David Cronenberg's classic is more current than ever. A motorcycle accident. The injured rose can only be saved by a novel, previously not used surgical technique. Skin tissue from her lower leg is neutralised before being transplanted to the injury. During the neutralisation phase, however, aggressive mutation forms of the cell arise. Result: the patient develops a thirst for human blood. Her victims, mostly masculine, she taps the blood via a penis-shaped spike that grows from her armpit. The victims are infected with the "virus" through this sting. Symptoms include chills, sweating, aggressive behavior, foam in front of the mouth. While the state of emergency is imposed in the city, Rose infects further victims.
